Nu zit ik hier achter mijn weg over de zee
En na al die dagen van bloed... heb ik mijn geloof verloren.
Nu heeft de profetie gefaald in, oh, zo veel manieren
Ik kan niet beschrijven wat ik in al die dagen heb gezien.
Levenloos land!
Ik heb zo lang gevochten.…
Zandduinen!
En ik vervloek ze omdat niets hier goddelijk is.
Hier in mijn Koninkrijk zand
In de woestijn die mijn ziel doodt
Ik ben de koning van mijn land.
Maar ik voel me moe en zo alleen.
De zandstorm jaagt mijn droom weg
Een droom van mijn geliefde thuis
Ik zie de Fata Morgana daar.
Maar nu is het weg.
Ik kan er niet tegen!
De hitte verbrandt mijn huid voordat ik sterf.
Onheilig land!
Ze weten dat het zinloos is, maar toch proberen ze het.
