Ik ontmoette je voor het eerst op een sigin' toen ik nog maar 16 was.
Je nam de tijd om met mij de reden te delen waarom je zingt
Je zei dat de wegen niet altijd gemakkelijk zijn maar God is altijd waar
Je zei, deel de goede dingen die hij voor je heeft gedaan.
Je werd mijn held van het geloof, soldaat van het kruis.
Zingen uit het grote oude verhaal, Jezus redt het verlies
En nu is het tijd om je leger neer te leggen en de fakkel door te geven.
Ik kreeg vanmorgen het nieuws dat je weg geslapen had.
Het lijkt erop dat mijn hart gebroken was. het kon niet zo eindigen.
Maar dan zag ik met geesteogen het spoor dat je gemaakt moet hebben.
Rennen naar de armen van Jezus eindelijk thuis om te blijven
