Toen de oostelijke ster opstond, kwamen de vogels van ver.,
in die volle kracht van glorie.
Met één melodieuze stem verblijdden ze zich
en zong het wonderlijke verhaal,
sang, lovend God op hoog, geboeid boven de hemel,
en zijn schone moeder Mary.
De adelaar verliet zijn hol, kwam winginging through the air,
zijn boodschap kwam luid uit.
En op zijn vreugdevolle schreeuw antwoordde de mus,
zijn antwoord is zoet.
"Overwonnen zijn dood en strijd, deze nacht is nieuw leven geboren»,
de robin zong verheugd.
Toen de oostelijke ster opstond, kwamen de vogels van ver.
