«Abraham,» you called to me
«I am ready, Lord, what do you want of me?»
«Take your son, your only one, your joy above all things
You shall journey up the mountain to the place of which I speak

And I did not sleep that night

For three timeless days, my son walked by my side

«Father, I carry the wood

«Do not slay your son, do not harm him in the least.

You’ll have descendants countless as the stars or sands of the sea.

"Abraham," riep je tot mij

U zult de berg opreizen naar de plek waar ik spreek.
Je zult hem op het altaar leggen, je zult hem aan mij teruggeven.»
En ik heb die nacht niet geslapen
En mijn kwelling gaf geboorte aan het ochtendlicht
Voor drie tijdloze dagen, liep mijn zoon aan mijn zijde
En toen hij zich tot mij wendde toen wij de aangewezen hoogte naderden
"Vader, Ik draag het hout
en jij draagt de vlam
Maar waar is het lam voor het offer van lof?»
Ik zeg: "God zal voorzien.
Wat hij vraagt, moeten we doen.»
Oh God, Ik vertrouw op je.
Dit was het kind dat je me gaf.
De vrucht van al mijn gebeden die ik vurig aanbood
Mijn zoon, mijn enige, die het hout voor me droeg
