Disciples of the unholy alliance.
Massive walls for eternal protection,
to withstand the constant threats of destruction.
The tower of Babel was glorified.
The temple of Marduk reached to the skies.
The god of the Jews enraged, full of envy,
took his revenge on this bastion of blasphemy.
Cursed by Assyrians, cursed by Jews.
In the end, the city must pay its dues.
Its citizen slaughtered, burnt to the ground,
its eternal glory nowhere to be found.
Prophets predicted this fall from grace;
a curse upon the Babylonian race.
Punished for greed and blasphemy.
The wrath of the gods… perpetually.
