How the wicked king commanded they be thrown into the flame
Because they would not bow and then deny their Father’s name
My Mama said the king stood high upon a balcony so tall
When he looked in he was shocked by all the things he saw
Because he thought that he would find them lying dead upon the ground
But instead of three he counted four up walking all around
Then I said Mama, wait a minute, there’s one thing that I must know
If three went in and three came out, then where’d that fourth man go
And I never will forget it, Mama danced across the floor
And these are the words I heard her
Say while shouting through the door
She said, he’s still in the fire and he’s walking in the flame
And he’ll be there to help you when you call upon his name
And he can still deliver by His almighty power
While here below it’s good to know He’s still in the fire
I said, he’s still in the fire and He’s walking in the flame

Mijn moeder heeft lang geleden een verhaal uit de Bijbel gelezen.
Over Shadrach, Meshach en Abednego.
Hoe de boze koning beval hen in de vlam te gooien.
Omdat ze niet zouden buigen en dan de naam van hun vader ontkennen
Mijn moeder zei dat de koning stond hoog op een balkon zo groot
Toen hij naar binnen keek was hij geschokt door alle dingen die hij zag.
Omdat hij dacht dat hij ze dood op de grond zou vinden.
Maar in plaats van drie telde hij er vier.
Toen zei Ik Mama, wacht even, er is één ding dat ik moet weten.
Als er drie naar binnen gingen en er drie naar buiten kwamen, waar ging die vierde man dan heen?
En Ik zal het nooit vergeten, Mama danste over de vloer
En dit zijn de woorden die ik haar hoorde
Zeg terwijl je door de deur schreeuwt
Ze zei, hij is nog steeds in het vuur en hij loopt in de vlam
En hij zal er zijn om je te helpen als je zijn naam roept.
En hij kan nog steeds leveren door zijn almachtige kracht.
