She’s off into the sour patch

Woke the sleeping beagle skipping toward the kidney swimming pool
Off into the yawning blue
The splash would mum the rocket-ships
Ruby’s lungs were filling by the time her kin were cognizant
Many sprung and sprinted down

Frenzied and congested deck

Soggy beagle gently dragging Ruby in his yellow teeth

When she choked the liquid through her bluish lips he dropped his knee
Helped the air to reconvene

Uit een chevy truck gelost
In het huis dat haar ouders hadden gebouwd
De Patio was charcoals en verlengde fam in klapstoelen.
Veilig rond de tuin gerijpt om zich te concentreren op de rookvlammen
Een paar neven, ooms, tantes, meestal volwassenen, een paar snotneuzen.
Baby Ruby is nog maar twee.
Ze is te dicht bij de jumping jacks.
Mama brengt haar naar het huis.
Sluit de boosterstoel op.
Rolt haar naar de stormdeur
Laat haar verlangen naar alle waanzin
Telefoon leidt moeder af
Ruby kronkelt haar riem uit
Vingers duwen het plexi-glas
Ze is weg in de zure patch
Voorbij het vuurwerk onopgemerkt en onzichtbaar
Maakte de slapende beagle wakker, huppelend naar het nierzwembad.
Naar het geeuwende blauw
De splash zou de raketschepen mompelen.
Ruby ' s longen vulden al toen haar familie het wist.
